Fault location in fiber optics networks The OVF-1 is specially designed for field personnel who need an efficient and economical tool for fiber tracing, fiber routing and continuity checking in an optical network during and after installation. Fiber breaks, microbends, and poor optical splices are clearly visible as light glows through the fiber buffer or outer jacket. Fault location behind optical connectors where the use of OTDRs is limited due to dead zones is now possible with the OVF-1. The blink mode improves visibility for use in bright ambient light. The highly efficient laser diode operates at short wavelengths of 635 nm to ensure that the emitted light is clearly visible to the human eye. Fibre tracing is possible over more than 5 km for singlemode fibers. With the new universal push-pull (UPP) adapter, matching of all standard 2.5 mm optical connector types is possible. The connector is held without additional mechanical fixing. An additional external adapter converts from 2.5 mm UPP to .125 mm UPP. This adapter allows to connect the OVF-1 to optical connectors with 1.25 mm ferrule e.g. LC, MU or F3000. The OVF-1 comes in a rugged metal housing. With its compact, lightweight design, it fits easily in a vest pocket.
